Email: That 98% claim

Robin Evans' statement that 98% of people regard the inland waterways as a 'treasured asset' (and presumably therefore need to have their future guaranteed), is not a new claim.

I heard it at a user group meeting in Lapworth some years ago. My immediate question was, "Where was this survey taken?" My contention being that should it have been taken in Hatton Tearooms, one might expect a different answer to that if taken in Trafalgar Square.

This only goes to prove the old adage, there are lies, damn lies and statistics.  I fear that Mr Evans believes his own propaganda.
