One boat will not make it

A PROJECT is being produced in Loughborough of audio artwork to mark the Olympic Games that will be transported by two boats, but one will not make it, as the waterway is closed.

Artistes are recording sounds in areas of industrial heritage, then sending the recordings to neighbouring areas on narrowboats along the Grand Union Canal.

Performed

The first recording begins with a recently-discovered composition by Edward Elgar called Memorial Chimes, which has been performed on the town's Carillon tower of 47 bells.

This will be transported on two narrowboats and sent across the region. One will head for Derbyshire towards the Trent, but the other will set off for Northampton, but alas, with part of the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal being closed, will not make it.

It is obvious that the organisers have not been told of the closure.
