THE television presenter Ben Fogle is taking part in a clean-up campaign of the towpaths of rivers and canals, starting on the Thames at Richmond.

The campaign is to clean-up English water banks, with Ben, known for extreme sports challenges and hosting television shows such as BBC's Crufts, leading a group at Richmond later in the year to clean-up the litter scattered on the Thames path, Alan Tilbury tells us, explaining:

"We have such beautiful rivers and canals here in the UK and during this campaign I will be asking as many people as possible to come down to one of our events."

During 2011 the coastline was targeted, with an estimated 2.5 tonnes of litter removed, and as a thank you every volunteer was awarded with a glass of Californian wine.
