HURLESTON FLIGHT ON THE LLANGOLLEN CANAL is restricted to navigation.

It was closed yesterday, Friday, Keith Gudgin reports.

With Canal & River Trust telling:

'Navigation between Lock 1 and Lock 4 on the Hurleston Flight of the Llangollen Canal will be closed from 3:00pm today [Friday]. Further closures will be in place from Saturday, 11th July until 9:30am on Sunday, 12 July, with an additional closure commencing at 3:00pm'.

Low water levels

The closures are necessary due to low water levels.

During the closure periods, the local team will be working to replenish water resources and maintain safe navigation conditions throughout the flight.

The trust asks that those planning in using the flight are asked to operate the locks with care and help conserve water wherever possible.

The Llangollen of course supplies water to Hurleston Reservoir that in turn supplies water  to Crewe and Nantwich, that has priority.
