THREE NAVIGATIONS WERE REOPENED on the Huddersfield canals yesterday, Tuesday,

All three having had their repairs completed, Keith Gudgin reports. 

Lock 24E had a paddle failure that has now been repaired and the navigation reopened.

There are volunteers working on designated days of Tuesday and Thursday, helping boaters as so any boats are booked in for yesterday who have been stuck since 21st March.

The lock suffered a paddle mechanism failure.

Another

There was another stoppage on the Huddersfield Narrow  between Lock 24W and Lock 32W that was due to a shortage of water.

That was discovered was caused by a damaged on Lock 29W, which was preventing the lock from sealing properly and being filled with water.

Huddersfield Broad Canal

Still on the Huddersfield canals, the broad canal  had a failure Quay Street Loco Lift Bridge. 

This has been repaired and the waterway reopened.

This time it needed stop planks and the water drained to allow access to the broken part.
