Body of missing girl found in Thames
THE METROPOLITAN POLICE were called to a body found in the Thames on Sunday.
That has now been identified as 11 years old Kaliyah Coa, and her family is being supported by specialist officers, Janet Friend reports.
Entered the river
The girl has been missing since she entered the river and was obviously carried away near Barge House Causeway (pictured) in North Woolwich
The police tell that she had been playing during a school inset day and went into the water near the causeway late in March with the emergency services called and an extensive search mounted.
When there was no success in finding Kaliyah the police released her name and photograph at the beginning of the month, stating that officers were leading a recovery mission along the Thames to find her.
Barge House Causeway is a concrete slope for launching boats into the river and was slippery on the day of the incident.
No identification of man pulled from canal
Another drowning was of a man in the Old Main Line in Birmingham who was found dead five months ago.
But as yet the police are still trying to identify the man who was discovered.
The West Midlands Police are still attempting to identify him.
The body of the man was discovered on the 30th November last year, with the police telling his body had no injuries and there was no evidence of any third party involvement. He is described as Asian, about 50 to 60 years old, of medium build with black hair.
