Saved £1,000 monthly with a narrowboat

A COUPLE sold their share of a seaside home in Hastings to save over £1,000 in 'rent'.

By moving into a 60ft narrowboat on the waterways, Janet Friend reports.

But Ula and Josh did this in December, and told they were 'trapped in a tiny canal boat in freezing temperatures'.

Stuck it

But they stuck it and covered the boat's roof in solar panels, that as well as providing power drove their diesel heater so were soon snug enough with all their mod cons, soon becoming used to the smaller space and surprised what they could fit in.

So though it all started with six days frozen in, they realised with the solar panels fitted and the engine providing hot water for radiators when travelling they were well suited to the life.

So as they worked on the internet and were able to get a signal virtually everywhere, they feel they have made the right decision.

So have joined the band of continuous cruisers.

(The home was split somehow, they joint owners and the various people were paying rent, they included, then sold their share.)
