Stolen boat reported five months later
A BOAT stolen in April was not reported until September, leaving little chance of it being found.
Though the reason for the delay is not known, Janet Friend reports.
It was moored by the towpath at Plank Lane on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal as it meets the Bridgewater. As the owners of that canal are somewhat keen at spotting unregistered boats it obviously was not taken or moored there.
Disguise
After all this time the boat would most likely have had a few modifications with a possible re-paint to disguise, and could obviously be anywhere or even sold.
It would be difficult to moor in a marina as all its details would be required, so perhaps cruising with its licence 'plates' and name removed.
It would be perhaps possible to re-register as a new boat with a new name away from Canal & River Trust waters, if well disguised.
During the time the boat was moored it had a notice from Canal & River Trust stating the owner should contact.
