A WATERWAYS historian is wanting help —to solve the mystery of a working boat on an old postcard.

Steven Parker purchased an historic Doncaster postcard and is keen to find out details of a boat that is shown, telling that he recently, purchased a rather intriguing colour postcard from a well known internet auction site, that shows St. George's Church, Doncaster', published by R.H. Hepworth, Doncaster, Janet Friend reports.

PostcardOn the postcard he noticed the rather interesting working boat on the Don Navigation.

Steam powered

With a tall chimney on the cabin roof, he thought the boat was powered by steam. on the reverse side of the postcard is a prominent stamp that shows it was posted in May 1904.

He is extremely interested in this craft and would welcome any information about it and what it was used for. Hopefully, together, the mystery can be solved.
