UNDERWATER dive teams were brought in to search the Llangollen Canal at Chirk for a missing man.

The search is taking place near to the marina, Keith Gudgin reports.

This is being undertaken by the police following an 'incident' of some property near the canal on Sunday. The police are asking that the public keep away from the area, with Acting Inspector Rhodri Ifans stating:

Specialist underwater search team

“I am asking people to please avoid Chirk Marina and the footpath leading up to it, and through the tunnel leading to Chirk Aqueduct to allow the specialist underwater search team to carry out their enquiries.

“I would like to thank the public for their continued patience and understanding and ask anyone with information to contact us via the website, or by calling 101.”
