Go-ahead for Stone waste disposal
Published: Wednesday, 12 June 2024
PLANNING permission has been received for the installation of a new waste disposal site at Stone.
This will replace the site that was lost to Canal & River Trust on the Trent & Mersey Canal in January, Keith Gudgin reports.

There was delay as the site is in a conservation area and so took longer to get the planning permission granted.
We are told that 'The bins will be in situ South of Star Lock', that would signify the waste disposal unit will be situated below the lock.
However below the lock are the lock landing, water point and winding hole then moorings, so it would seem the site will be where the moorings are situated.
It is hoped the new compound for the bins will be installed by the end of this month.
