It gets worse at Keadby

THERE are to be fewer openings of Keadby Draw Bridge Network Rail announce.

This is the bridge that allows access to and from the Tidal Trent to the Stainforth & Keadby Canal with any temperature over 26 degrees that is now called a 'heatwave' stopping the bridge from being operated, Keith Gudgin reports.

The latest passage times announced yesterday include more restrictions including the day of a strike.

As the current hot weather is now forecast to extend and include Sunday 14th, this means that from Wednesday 10th of August until Sunday 14th Network Rail will only operate the bridge once a day at 9am.

From Monday 15th it will revert to operating a maximum of twice a day at 9am and 1pm but only providing the air temperature is no higher than 26 degrees.

Industrial action

Owing to Industrial action planned to take place on Thursday 18th August and Saturday 20th August the bridge will not be operated at all..

Assuming the temperature is no higher than 26 degrees then the operating times next week will be:

Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th at 9am and 1pm. Thursday 18th no openings. Friday 19th 9am and 1pm. Saturday 20th no openings. Sunday 21st  09am and 1pm.
