Refurbished pump has not solved K&A summit problem

THOUGH the refurbished pump has been installed the Kennet & Avon summit will not be open this weekend.

The pump is working well, but the continuing dry weather means that to fill the pound it could overload the remaining pump, so the section from Lock 22 at Foxhangers to Lock 63 at Crofton, will remain closed this week-end.

Can use Caen Hill

But boaters will be able to use the Caen Hill Flight daily from 10am to 3pm with last entry at noon.

The lack of pumping has resulted in a great amount of silt built up, and this will need to be cleared before restrictions can be lifted.

In the meantime work will continue on the pumps to get them working satisfactory and it is expected that the summit locks—51 to 63will be open by Tuesday and then again on Thursday, also from 10:00am until 3.00pm, with last entry at 12:00 Noon.
