The ultimate house boat

VISITORS to Limehouse Marina off the Thames are somewhat bemused at one particular 'boat' moored there.

For it looks nothing like a boat, and in fact is a two storey luxurious 'apartment' on water, moored to one of the marina's pontoons, Alan Tilbury reports.

Imported from Germany

Weighing 40 tonnes this is indeed an apartment, with normal size rooms and is imported from Germany, where it was designed and constructed.

Each one is built to the customer's own interior design, they being able to create whatever they want in the space provided, with customers able to visit the works in Germany to meet the people creating what is called the REV house, the initials standing for revolutionary living spaces.

It is a boat

It is actually a boat, with a 80mm thick mono hull that will withstand cruising through ice.

The idea is to provide living in a crowded city like London, with the designers believing 'it is a fantastic option for buying real estate because its impossible to buy anything near the water in most of Europe'.
