BOAT Fire Safety Week started yesterday (Tuesday 29th) Canal & River Trust tells us with various events around the waterways.

It ends with a floating fire safety event on Sunday 4th June, when its education boat Jena cruises along the Grand Union Canal from Park Royal to Little Venice.

Free CO2 alarms

Towpath rangers Alex and Gareth, alongside officers from Park Royal Fire Station, will be on board the boat  to offer advice on any issue, with a focus on fire safety, giving out free fire and CO2 alarms to boaters on the way.

Sorwar Ahmed, London Boater Liaison Manager at the Canal & River Trust, explains:

“Fires on boats can be incredibly destructive and it’s important that boaters know how to keep themselves, and their boats, safe. Boat Fire Safety Week is a great time to raise awareness. We’ve got experts on hand to answer all your questions so come along and find out more.”
