Trip boat's 40th year

EASTER Monday saw the celebration of the the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust's trip boat, Jubilee, that has been operating trips along the waterway for 40 years.

The occasion was marked by the boat getting a new-look, with it being re-launched on Monday at Newbury, where it is based.

The occasion was attended by people involved in the original launch and local dignitaries, who then took a trip on the boat from the wharf.

The name Jubilee, was chosen as its launch in 1977, was the year of the Queen’s silver jubilee. It is run and maintained by volunteers and is one of four boats operated by the Trust along the Kennet & Avon Canal from various locations.
