Body caught in boat's propeller

THE skipper of a boat on the Bridgewater Canal had a terrible shock when his boat's engine suddenly stopped, and looking down saw a body tangled in the propeller.

He immediately contacted the emergency services with the police attending the scene near the Old Trafford football ground, and pulling the body away, Alan Tilbury reports.

Obviously deceased

Though paramedics and ambulance were soon on site near Victoria Warehouse by the canal, the body of the man was soon discovered to be obviously deceased.

The towpath and surrounding area was cordoned off whilst the body was removed and the police started the investigation.

Though the police have not yet released details of the deceased, they are asking people who witnessed a fight in the area to come forward.
