THE Castle Donnington Fire Station Specialist Water Rescue Team recently organised an Open Day for both residents and visitors at Sawley Marina.

This involved a morning and afternoon session both comprising of a practical demonstration involving water rescue techniques in the marina followed by a safety lecture.

Great success

The day was very well attended and considered a great success with the rescue crews imparting their knowledge and advice on methods of water rescue, treatment of casualties, safety advice surrounding water rescue and living on or near water.

Fire safety was of course included with gas and solid fuel heating safety advice. The day resulted in one Home Fire Safety Check being completed and a smoke alarm fitted with the audience benefiting from demonstrations and safety advice.

Crew Manager, Tom Harvey told it very much appreciated the opportunity to come along and give out its safety messages and look forward to running another safety event coinciding with the Spring Market at the marina.
