Not told about Bridgewater closure

IN A stoppage notice Canal & River Trust told yesterday that it has 'become aware' that the Bridgewater Canal will be closed until June due to bridge works.

As narrowboatworld published details of the closure last Friday the 6th of January, it can only be assumed that Peel Holdings, the owners of the Bridgewater Canal, did not have the decency to inform the Trust that there was no access to or from the Leeds & Liverpool Canal for six months via the Bridgewater.

As the Trust's notice points out, the works will close the waterway from Monday 13th February 2017 until Friday 16th June.

It would seem that Peel have little interest in either boaters or the Trust, as it cannot have the decency to inform it that it is blocking access to the Leeds & Liverpool for six months.
