Email: Taking over the EA

Published: Friday, 25 March 2016

I have just read David Hymers excellent article about the Trust taking over the Environment Agency waters, and he has put his finger directly on the problem as far as we boaters are concerned.

It is the matter of the extra cost to us of our licence.  The only way this would be fair would be to have each separate waterway/river licenced separately, which seeing the way the Trust now operates, getting rid of its bankside staff would be virtually impossible to police, which can only mean a more expensive licence to include them all, even though there will be very few who would take full advantage of it.

I cannot understand why the IWA is so intent upon this happening, it just does not add up, for it is supposed to represent boaters, but you can bet that if it did come to pass it would be more expensive for us, which is hardly the way to represent boaters.
