Jail is little deterrent to canal killer

COLIN McDonald was sentenced to ten years in jail for pushing Jonathan Tripp into the 'Rochdale Nine' in Manchester, being found guilty of manslaughter, back in 1997.

He was released after serving just four years of his sentence in 2001, Keith Gudgin tells us.

But that year he was convicted of GBH after breaking a man's jaw, sentenced to ten years, but again released after serving less than half his sentence in 2005.

Attacks whilst on bail

Then in 2010 he stabs a man 11 times and is released on bail, but during that time, whilst driving without insurance or licence, knocks down and kills Wayne Leary and drives on.  He was caught and given 18 months in jail.

He then appeared in court for the stabbing offence and was given a ten years sentence in 2010.

Yet again he was released early, being released in 2015, but then encouraged a young boy to attack Dominic Doyle, and last month, January 2016, he was convicted of the  manslaughter of Dominic Doyle, and is awaiting sentence...
