Email: A bit of a racket

I have one of those 'vintage' engines in the boat that I purchased early this year, a two cylinder one, that I have to admit does cause a bit of a racket when opening-up, and though I don't mind it, my wife does, she believing that it is selfish to others to make them suffer such a noise.

 

I discovered that it had no silencer whatsoever, just a straight pipe, so thought it only right to purchase a silencer, which satisfies my wife and allows us to converse in a normal voice!

It is not being suggested that all of you with such engines do the same, but giving this as a suggestion to solve what is obviously a problem.
