THE police have arrested two men in connection with the body of a man who was discovered in the Regent's Canal near the entrance to Islington Tunnel.

The body of the Italian, Sebastiano Magnanini, who was known as an art thief, was found two weeks ago, with the two men aged 22 and 61 now held in custody, Keith Gudgin tells us.

The police are treating the matter as murder, so the two will remain in custody separately at two London police stations.

It was various tattoos on different parts of his body that led to the dead man being identified, who originated from Venice but had been working in London for the past few months.

Though a post-mortem examination has been carried out, the cause of death could not be determined, so further toxicology tests will be undertaken.
