Email: Not always heavy

Buckby Locks may always have been deep double locks, but they have not always been heavy.

We have been boating through them for well over 40 years and it is only in the last ten years or so that they have got progressively heavier to the point that many of my friends no longer attempt to use them.

Several of them take two people to open or close them although Lock 12 has not been a problem in my experience. In the 70s 11 and 12 were so well balanced that a child could close them, but they would not stay closed. Not true any longer.
