Boat sunk in Wardle Lock

Published: Monday, 17 August 2015

A SUNKEN boat in Wardle Lock that connects the Trent & Mersey Canal with the Middlewich Branch has closed the navigation.

This occurred this morning (Monday), and it is now being decided how to get it removed, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Contractors called

Contractors have been called to the lock to discover the best way to remove it, and once a decision is made a further update will be issued by Canal & river Trust.

When contractors attempted to remove a boat from the deep lock at Bath on the Kennet & Avon Canal, five days were wasted until the Trust finally brought in River Canal Rescue, that raised it in hours!  Let us hope it is not the same contractors!
