Diesel on the Lancaster

THOUGH our David Hymers was unable to locate anyone selling diesel on the Lancaster Canal, there is one supplier at Ashton Basin.

This is available Friday to Tuesday, and by arrangement on Wednesday and Thursday, Iain Rudd tells us.

Welcome to pop in

The basin also offers overnight secure moorings for those boaters wanting to visit Preston as well as pump-out and gas, with Iain saying David is welcome to pop in for a cuppa before he pops back across the link to civilisation.

The basin is at Bridge 10, which is as far South as the canal now goes now, with Iain willing to help boaters when he can. Luckily the boats from the basin are South of the stoppage, but thinks but it won't take long for the water level to drop and it to become very shallow.
