Burnt to death on towpath

A MAN was found on fire on the towpath of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal in Blackburn over the holiday period, and later died from his burns.

The man, believed to be in his 50's, was close to the Moorings pub, and was discovered burning by drinkers, Alan Tilbury tells us.

No reason found

Both police and paramedics attended the scene, with the towpath cordoned off whilst an investigation was taking place, but though he was confirmed dead on the towpath, the police can find no reason for the tragedy, treating it as 'unexplained', though the towpath, being near the pub and a restaurant, is heavily used.
