Car in lock

A CAR has been driven into Butter Lane Lock (81) on the Rochdale Canal, which is now closed until it can be removed.

This morning

It was discovered in the lock this morning, Monday, and Canal & River Trust advises boaters to wait at Piccadilly Basin if going up the waterway, Keith Gudgin tells us.

It is hoped that the car can be removed from the lock later today.
