Use it or lose it

IT IS a shame about the report from the Birmingham Post of the state of the back-end of 'Brum', I hope it does not put anybody off writes Dave Carden.

I boat these sections together with all the BCN regularly and although some of the insights are reasonable, I implore all boaters to cruise all of these waterways.

Nothing like that now

When I think back not too many years ago when some of these waterways, including the Garrison Flight were no-go areas, it is nothing like that now! You will always have some sort of off-putting sights but the more boats cruise these parts the better.

All of the BCN has improved so much in recent years thanks to people like the Birmingham Canal Navigation Society (BCNS) and an improved attitude from CaRT including dredging.

So please try the BCN—have you been to Pellsall Common recently for instance? Please have a go and see what you are missing. If you're not sure about safe mooring places please look at the BCNS website for guidance Don't forget—Cruise it or lose it!
