Another on the cill

THIS time there is a boat well and truly stuck in Ironbridge Lock at Rickmansworth on the Grand Union Canal.

It is another whose steerer obviously was not paying attention, as it became fast on the cill as the water was being let out, and again no attempt to close the paddles to stop it, so it sank, Alan Tilbury reports.

Rolled on its side

It seems it will not be a prompt removal, as we understand it will have to be craned out as the boat rolled on to its side as it sank, meaning it cannot simply be re-floated but will have to be craned out.

As a crane is needed, there will be no help from Canal & River Trust, but the owner is having to make his own arrangement to have the boat removed, and so the canal is closed until this can be achieved.
