Sense at last at Pillings

Published: Friday, 11 April 2014

THE Director of Pilling's, Roy Rollings, has informed the berth holders at Pillings Lock Marina that after successful talks an agreement has been reached with Canal & River Trust, with a new Network Access Agreement being agreed.

This means that a public relations disaster has been averted, and the threatened blockade of the marina will not take place next Monday, with an extension being agreed to allow the transfer of funds as part of the new agreement, the first payment having been made today, Friday.

Access maintained

The Trust has sensibly agreed to suspend any blockade until Wednesday 16th April 2014 in order for payments to be received by its solicitors, with Roy explaining that as payments have begun and are in process, there is no reason for the blockade to occur so access will be maintained, adding:

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you [berth holders] for your patience throughout this difficult time, I full understand the problems this situation has caused to many customers, although I hope this email marks the end of the troubles for you. Paul is on site all day today so if you would like to discuss any concerns, please do."

So though the matter was taken to the last minute, the blockade will not now take place, and a real public relations disaster averted.
