L&L open Friday

THE closure of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Lock 55 at Blackburn should be lifted by this coming Friday afternoon, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Work has been progressing since the 'blown' cill was discovered and the concrete has been laid to take the new cill, though this will take a few days to cure.

Re-watered

All the equipment and scaffolding will be removed today (Wednesday) and tomorrow, when the lock will be re-watered.

The stop planks will be removed on Friday morning, so it is hoped the waterway will be open again by lunch time, and the boats waiting allowed through the lock.
