Trent Lifeboat stolen

A LIFEBOAT, that could mean life or death to anyone in trouble in the Trent, has been stolen, with the volunteer Colwick Park Lifeguards in Nottingham now without its means of rescue.

Thieves broke into a storage unit on Saturday night or Sunday morning, also damaging other boats and stealing equipment including radios and engines, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Distinctive

The 20ft boat on its own trailer, is very distinctive, and would have stood out if pulled along the roads.

Secretary Mark Smith exclaimed:

"I'm quite shocked actually that anybody, particularly when we are constantly seeing in the media all the floods that are happening around the country, and the use of vessels like this, I'm stunned that anybody would think it is in any way acceptable to steal a lifeboat."

Nottinghamshire Police has asked anyone with information about the theft and damage to contact them or Crimestoppers.
