The Trent kept rising

THOUGH the Environment Agency told the Trent Flood was to stop rising, it was not so.

ShardlowFloodLockIt has risen so much that the Shardlow '200 year' Flood Lock (pictured) has had to be closed—for at least four times since 2000 to our knowledge!

Staff on hand

Though it was expected the jetties at Sawley Marina would not be covered by water, they obviously were, but staff are on hand to keep the boats safe, especially those that are too tightly tied to their moorings.

The flood gates are still closed, preventing the floods getting into Shardlow, though Church Farm Marina is not protected, it in fact losing boats sinking in a past flood.

Navigation of course is impossible until the agency unlock the flood gates.

LATEST—The flood gates are now open.
