No rubbish bins at Stone after today

OWING to a disagreement between Canal & River Trust and the access owner, bins are being lost.

The long established rubbish bins at Stone have been removed and we are told that the compound will be dismantled today, Wednesday, a boater reports.

A long way away

The nearest bins are now either at Etruria five hours and 11 locks to the north, or Great Haywood about four hours and six locks south.

The trust say that it is looking for a new site, but should that require planning permission, a replacement could be a long way away. In the meantime local moorers have no such facility.
