Stop planks removed on the Macclesfield but still closed

Published: Friday, 05 January 2024

STOP planks are being removed today, 5th January, at Kent Green Bridge (87) on the Macclesfield Canal.

This is situated near the junction with the Trent & Mersey.

However the navigation will remain closed from Kent Green Bridge to Hall Green Stop Lock (13) as dams are in place to allow contractors to continue with preparation works for future investigations of the culvert that has collapsed.

Canal & River Trust also state that it is now in a position where it can also safely remove the stop planks at Simpsons Bridge (85) today and they will not be reinstated.

But the navigation remains closed here too.
