THERE have been five bodies dragged out of the Yorkshire canals in the past four weeks, it being believed that someone is pushing people into the waterways.

This has led to the suggestion of a 'Yorkshire Dipper' being at loose who is pushing men into the waterways of the county, after the speculation of a 'Manchester Pusher' responsible for so many deaths mostly in the Rochdale Canal of that city.

Calder & Hebble Navigation

The bodies have been recovered mostly from the Calder & Hebble Navigation with one from the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, though it has not been established that these are the result of one person, though every one in 'unexplained'.

The bodies recovered are a teenager, a man in his twenties, two middle aged men and a man in his seventies.

After the many men pushed into the Manchester waterway it has led to the speculation that there is another man on the loose, pushing men into the waterways around Huddersfield, who has earned himself the name the Yorkshire Dipper.

Latest body

The latest body pulled out of the Calder & Hebble Navigation this week is that of Daniel France, after he was spotted by a walker on the towpath, making it the fifth male recovered within the last four weeks.

Men in Manchester, particularly along the Rochdale Nine, where so many met their deaths, have been shunning the towpath, and we have learned the same is happening around Huddersfield, making sure they are in groups.
