A BROKEN swing bridge on the Market Harborough Arm of the Grand Union Canal has closed the navigation.
This is Foxton Swingbridge that Canal & river Trust state has been damaged. It was closed yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon, and will remain so until further notice, Keith Gudgin tells us.
Cannot be used
Contractors have been made aware of the problem, but boaters are warned that under no circumstances should this bridge be attempted to be used or the navigation.
This means of course there is no access to or from Market Harborough.
UPDATE:
The contractors acted very quickly, with the swing bridge being repaired this morning and the navigation now open.
