OBVIOUSLY worried about the ever increasing number of stoppages on the system, often caused by lack of maintenance, Canal & River Trust is no longer calling stoppages 'stoppages', but 'opportunities'!
New description
So no longer does it call a spade a spade—here's how it describes the stoppage on the the Staffs & Worcs at Rodbaston Lock:
'Given efficiencies within our delivery teams programme we have managed to find an opportunity to deliver gate relining works to avoid continuing problems with the lock operation and water management'.
However, call it what they will, it is still a stoppage as the canal will be closed for two weeks from the 22nd February to the 6th March, as Keith Gudgin tells us.
