Woman drowns feeding ducks

Published: Monday, 12 January 2015

THIS really seems to be the day of reports of deaths in our waterways, as another one is of a woman who slipped into the Leeds & Liverpool Canal whilst feeding the ducks and drowned.

It is understood the woman who was in her forties slipped into the canal from the towpath at Bootle last Friday afternoon, Alexander Powell tells us.

Emergency services

A passer-by saw the woman in the water and managed to pull her out, with the emergency services alerted, but she did not respond.

She was taken to hospital with a suspected cardiac arrest and hypothermia but was pronounced dead. A post mortem will be carried out to define the actual cause of death.
