A THREE quarter mile length of towpath has been upgraded as a cycle track at Tottenham Hale on the Lee in London at a cost of £305,000.

The project that supports Haringey Council's Smarter Travel campaign to encourage more cyclists to use the towpaths it is stated has been rebuilt by the Canal & River Trust, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Encourage people

Councillor Alan Strickland, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, explained:

"One of the key parts of the regeneration of Tottenham is to encourage more people to use the stunning riverside and Lee Valley park that is right on our doorstep."

The canal towpath provides a direct link from Tottenham to the Olympic Park in Stratford and a route to Hertford through Lee Valley Regional Park.
