Narrowboat stolen

Published: Wednesday, 08 May 2013

EX HIRE narrowboat, 60ft Samshiba, was stolen from its moorings at Kegworth on the Soar—it's thought in the early hours of last Monday morning, writes Pam Pickett.

A boater has now reported that Samshiba was seen to be heading upstream on the Soar at full speed around 5.00am.

No sightings

To date there have been no sightings of this boat. Distinguishing features are a window and door cut into the front bulkhead. The boat is a deepish blue and had recently been repainted by Andy Caine. It is licenced to February 2014 and its CaRT number is 502276. Insurance is with Towergate Marden, who have been informed. Leicestershire police have been informed and have issued crime number 290 7/5/13.

It would be appreciated if all boaters could keep a look out for this boat, and if we could all perhaps begin to question what security CaRT provides in cases such as this given the amount of money we pay for usage of our canals and rivers, preferably before our insurance costs also become astronomical!
