Cotswold Canals go technical

THE world of Apps has caught up with the waterways, with the Cotswold Canals having an Android App that will download to both mobile phones and tablets.

The Cotswold Canals Trust Android App in now available as a free download from Google Play (search for 'Cotswold Canals'). It has been produced at no cost to the Trust. It has been designed to work on both phones and tablets with Android installed (version 2.2 or above).

Bring awareness

The app is intended to bring awareness of the Trust's history and information regarding its current and future activities to the growing numbers of Android users.

The App has six pages:

  • Visitor Centres

The detail

About—Information about the Trust, its history, aims and objectives.

Contact—Contact information with live links to the internet and, if installed on a mobile phone, live telephone numbers. There is also the facility either to buy gift membership or download a membership application form via the internet.

Lock & Bridges—Useful location tables with location reference to the many structures along the line of the Cotswold canals.

History—The History of the Cotswold canals.

Photo Gallery—Four galleries of photographs, by Nick Bird, linked to Google maps. This page allows the user to find the location and directions to each site. (The photograph shown is taken from the App.)

Visitor Centres—The location of the Trust's head office and visitor centres. This page links to Google maps with live links to the internet and, if installed on a mobile phone, live telephone numbers.
