Trent boats upset anglers

Published: Friday, 26 October 2012

ANGLERS have been complaining of the speeds of boats on the Trent, but wrongly, as they have been told the wrong speed limit.

Boaters have been accused of speeding by anglers when in actual fact they are not speeding, as the limit is above that accepted by angers as being 4mph.

6 and 8mph

From Gainsborough to Nottingham up river is 6mph whilst from Nottingham to Gainsborough down river is 8mph over the river bed.

There is no limit below Gainsborough, except past Stockwith and Keadby locks.  The angling associations are now correcting the published limits.
