Big plans for Dudley

BIG plans indeed by the Dudley Canal Trust, for a multi-purpose building at the entrance to Dudley Tunnel, to be named the Portal.

The plans  are for a two-storey building with the top floor providing a direct access from the boat trips car park, with a lift to the towpath and entrance to the tunnel, with an artists' impression shown.

Bridge

Built on the opposite side of the waterway from the Black Country Living Museum, it is expected that either a swing or lift bridge would be installed to enable access.

The Trust has spend £118,000 it received from the lottery fund to provide plans for the building, with a further bid now in for more money, and asking members and supporters to donate cash.
