THOUGH dredging these days is somewhat lax, the Environment Agency are to dredge the little used Louth Canal.
The agency will dredge over six miles of the waterway, the reason given is to 'cut the risk of flooding', Alan Tilbury tells us.
Silt removed
It is expected that 22,000 tonnes of silt will be removed from the Lincolnshire canal during the next three months that the work will take.
At the same time, to pander to the nature fraternity, the agency has agree to erect owl boxes along the waterway.
