Why so many marina applications?

NONE other than minister MP Caroline Spelman has written to British Waterways asking why there are so many marina applications in the West Midlands.

Together with the local MP for Warwick she has objected to the building of a marina at Hockley Heath on the North Stratford Canal, and in addition to writing to British Waterways has also written to the  Department of Communities and Local Government, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Department asking why so many marina applications have appeared in the West Midlands, that is already so congested.

Detrimental effect

Caroline has written to Warwick District Council to object to the proposed 32 acres development on green belt land because she feels it would detrimentally affect her constituents in Hockley Heath.

She believes the application to build a 208 berth marina at Sands Farm will disrupt hedgerows with badger sets and cause flood problems. It is also likely that a marina on an already busy stretch of the Stratford Canal will only increase the amount of congestion.
