Gas cylinder involved in latest boat fire
A GAS cylinder was involved in the latest narrowboat fire, with the boat completely burnt-out in the blaze.
Fire officers, who were alerted to the boat fire in the early hours of this morning (Friday) stated that a gas cylinder was involved in the fire on a narrowboat moored near Caldwall Lock on the Staffs & Worcs Canal, Alan Tilbury tells us.
Alerted fire service
It was a member of the public who first saw the flames and alerted the fire service, and though no official explanation has been given for the cause of the fire, once again is seems leaking gas being ignited could be the cause.
Being unable to get their equipment to the boat, it had to be carried along the towpath before anything could be accomplished, though eventually the fire was extinguished.
There was no one on board at the time.
