IWA panic

Sadly I feel a little aggrieved by all the online posts and panic instigated this week by the Inland Waterway Association 'Call to Arms' over the move to Canal & River Trust, (CART) writes Graham Phillips

After many months of reports on narrowboatworld about the funding gap, and its likely effects on the canals as we know them, and just six months before the government try to off-load British Waterways to the 'charity' sector, the campaigns department of the Inland Waterway Association have finally woken up from their dithering and plundering, and decided perhaps they ought to do something about it.

Hassling MP's for ages

I, as I am sure many others, have been hassling our MPs for ages with little or no support from the main campaigning body for the waterways, and now, all of a sudden they are running around like headless chickens.

It's probably too late now to put together a cohesive strategy to oppose what 'British Waterway in sheep's clothing' are trying to do, which ultimately will price many of us boaters off of the few canals that will remain.

Too little too lateā€”let's hope not.
