Cyclist dies in Bridgewater Canal

A WOMAN has been discovered dead in the Bridgewater Canal near Lymm, with her cycle nearby.

Catherine Sharman had been cycling along the towpath of the waterway heading towards Manchester it was discovered, but no other details of how she came to be in the canal are known, Alan Tilbury reveals.

Tragic accident

Greater Manchester Police believe her death was a tragic accident, and that she somehow came off her cycle into the water and drowned, but are attempting to find witnesses that will help the coroner determine how she died, and help the family to come to terms with their loss.

It was revealed that she enjoyed outdoor activities like cycling, walking, circuit training and fitness boot camps.
